Lyon Gleich, MD, has been a Medpace Medical Director since 2004. Prior to joining Medpace, Dr. Gleich was an academic oncologist for more than 10 years at the University of Cincinnati (UC). He is a recognized expert in new cancer therapeutics and the science and complexities of completing oncology trials. While at UC, Dr. Gleich was a full professor of otolaryngology, served as Director of Resident Research for the program, was an academic clinical physician, and oversaw clinical trial development and management. In addition, he was Chief of Otolaryngology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Dr. Gleich has held numerous leadership positions in oncology and otolaryngology and remains active in academic oncology through multiple societal memberships.

What are the benefits?Answered July 21st, 2009 by Expert:Adaptive design is become more frequently utilized in oncology trials and appears to have acceptance by regulatory agencies. If a drug enters later stage trials without an ability to accurately predict what the response in the study may be, adaptive design offers the advantage of permitting the number of enrolled patients to be less if a higher than anticipated response rate occurs.
